I have successfully settled several health care arbitration disputes and mediation cases and have been involved in complex, commercial arbitration hearings with AAA, AHLA and FINRA as well as consumer arbitration hearings through AAA. I have been a panelist and Chair in several hearings involving, for example, payor/provider contractual/reimbursement disputes, physician wrongful termination, internal business disputes among physicians in a medical practice and cybersecurity and bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise as a health care executive in the field, having recently worked as the President of the New England Region for a value-based healthcare company, voted the No. 1 fastest growing private-company in the United Sates on the 2024 # Inc. 5000 list). I have been trained by the American Health Lawyers Association in their arbitration rules. I am familiar with these rules, and I apply them fairly and equitably. I have also been trained by FINRA and American Arbitration Association (AAA) in their arbitration rules. I am a good listener and try to settle matters in the most efficient and economical manner and write up reports and summaries in a clear and concise well-organized manner, acknowledging each party's position. Finally, and most importantly, I encourage the parties to see the overall big picture and engage in productive dialogue. Regarding my technology proficiency, I am proficient in using technology for arbitrations and mediations including videoconferencing and have conducted numerous evidentiary and motion hearings by teleconference and video conference. Conversant in online platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, LoopUp, GoToMeeting. Willing and able to work with online case management and document sharing platforms, including AAA WebFile, and electronic documents and exhibits. Encourages use of technology to augment hearing efficiency while not compromising confidentiality or ethics. Case settled. 7/3/2024 Chair of a complicated payer/provider payment dispute involving breach of contract and ERISA issues pertaining to hospital disputed claims. Case settled prior to hearing. 6/1/2024 Sole arbitrator to a dispute between a Management Services Organization and a provider group regarding breach of a contract and fraudulent conduct. Case settled. 1/20/2024 Sole arbitrator to an employment dispute between physician and large group practice. A desk review ruling was issued in this case. 8/3/2023 Sole arbitrator of a large complex arbitration involving breach of contract, alleging underpayment or down coding of claims, as well as fraud and other claims. Case settled. 4/21/2020 Chair of multi-million-dollar provider/payment dispute involving breach of contract between a large payor and large healthcare system, where the latter alleged underpayment of claims and involved prompt payment laws and ERISA.
