Jared Simmer

Jared Simmer

Executive Director

Over my 40 year career I have earned a reputation as a fair, impartial and successful neutral. My ADR philosophy is that the best way to serve parties is not just settling the conflict, but doing so in a way that doesn't do further harm to reputations or relationships. My mediation style is adaptable to the situation. My experience is unusually broad, and includes working in a wide variety of health care settings (including hospitals, nursing homes, physician practices, nursing departments, dentists, chiropractors, boards of directors, etc.), on a wide range of issues (employment, discrimination, insurance, partnership agreements, scope of practice, etc.), on behalf of both profit- and not-for profit organizations. I not only serve as a neutral, but over the years both taught ADR coursework and trained new neutrals, served as chair of the ADR committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association, and have been selected to serve on many different local, state, and national ADR panels. And, my specialty is using med-arb to resolve disputes (offering to mediate the dispute first, then absent settlement, to arbitrate). I find that this approach is capable of helping parties resolve disputes that would otherwise end up directly in arbitration, with a winner and a loser.
