I specialize in peer review mediation. I have spent 30 years engaged in medical staff matters and have represented hospitals, physicians, and served as mediator. My background includes having served as a hearing officer in multiple peer review matters including lengthy multi-day hearings. My experience includes impairment, behavior and privacy issues, as well as quality issues. I have drafted medical staff bylaws for both large and small facilities, including the development of unified medical staff bylaws for two different large multi-hospital systems. I have extensive knowledge of the NPDB rules and how they impact peer review decisions. I personally witnessed peer review done well and with integrity and have also seen poorly done peer review with bias. I have conducted over 25 medical staff peer review mediations with a success rate of over 90%. I have been repeatedly retained by lawyers specializing in hospital representation as well as those who exclusively represent physicians. I have a deep appreciation of the consequences of peer review and I approach each engagement with the utmost professionalism.
