Linda A Michler

Linda A Michler

Independent Arbitrator and Mediator

With over three decades of legal experience—including service as a former Special Assistant U.S. Attorney—and a proven track record of adjudicating more than 2,000 disputes, I provide parties with an authoritative, efficient, and laser-focused ADR process. Healthcare and complex commercial disputes demand a neutral who can master dense data, navigate shifting regulatory frameworks, and maintain absolute neutrality without a learning curve. WHAT I BRING TO YOUR DISPUTE: •. DEEP HEALTHCARE & REGULATORY MASTERY: Exceptionally positioned to resolve complex provider-payor contracting, health system dissolutions, reimbursement methodologies, and out-of-network pricing. I command deep technical fluency in federal compliance frameworks, including the No Surprises Act, Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and 340B pricing structures. •. SCIENTIFIC & FINANCIAL LITERACY: Leveraging an academic background in the Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) alongside decades of corporate finance experience, I rapidly synthesize technical medical evidence, intricate joint-venture accounting, and sophisticated corporate structures. • ACTIVE, HIGH-EFFICIENCY CASE MANAGEMENT: I do not passively manage a case. Whether governing over a multi-party health system dispute or an executive employment matter, my goal is to provide a sophisticated, confidential environment where complex risks are realistically assessed, and tailored, definitive outcomes are achieved efficiently. Available for virtual proceedings via all major enterprise platforms, as well as hybrid and in-person hearings nationwide.

Fees and Hours

LOCAL TRAVEL: No charge for travel within 20 miles of office, travel beyond 20 miles is charged at IRS mileage reimbursement rate. Any applicable tolls or parking are billed at actual cost. Round trip travel time under 30 minutes will not be billed, travel time exceeding 30 minutes will be billed at standard hourly rate in 15-minute increments. OUT OF AREA TRAVEL: I will charge for all travel related expenses including airfare at commercial business class rates, using lowest available, logical airfare, ground transportation (shuttles, taxi service, Uber, car rental, etc.) lodging, meals and when applicable any incurred parking fees or tolls. Travel time (home airport to destination lodging) is billed at 50% of standard hourly rate. I am open to negotiating a flat fee for out-of-area matters, depending on the specifics of the situation.
CANCELLATION POLICY Cancellations are sometimes unavoidable; however, reserved time is difficult to replace once scheduled. Accordingly, if I am unable to reschedule the reserved time, cancellation fees are imposed unless the reserved time can be rescheduled. Exceptions: Cancellation fees will be waived if the cancellation is due to: • Settlement of the case, or • Unavoidable, unexpected, and uncontrollable circumstances, such as severe weather, significant illness or injury, or the death of an immediate family member. Cancellation Fee Schedule NOTICE PERIOD (Business Days Prior to Scheduled Matter) FEE 21or more business days No charge 15-20 business days 25% of Reserved Time 8-14 business days 50% of Reserved Time 3-7 business days 75% of Reserved Time 0-2 business days 100% of Reserved Time Example: Two days has been reserved at a daily rate of $3,600 for November 12 & 13, 2025. Notice of cancellation was received on October 30, 2025 (9 business days prior to reserved time). This cancellation was not due to any of the exceptions listed above. Fee will be $3,600. NON-REFUNDABLE EXPENSES: Any non-refundable expenses (e.g., airfare, hotel reservations, or preparatory work) will be billed for any canceled matter, regardless of notice period or reason for cancellation.
Standard hourly rate is $675/hr. Calls and meetings provided outside of my normal operating hours (Monday through Friday 9am ET to 6pm ET) are charged more at $690.00/hr. Minimum charge per matter is 3 hours. Flat daily rates are also available at $4,860/day which is a 10% discount on my standard fee based on an 8-hour day. In cases involving substantial non-monetary issues (e.g., requests for injunctive relief) or other unique circumstances, the fee will be determined after a discussion with counsel.
My regular office hours are Monday thru Friday 9am to 6pm ET. However, each case is unique, and scheduling is tailored to the specific needs of the case. I am open to adjusting normal operating hours when necessary. Meetings and hearings can be conducted virtually, in person or through a combination of both, depending on the circumstances and timing. Feel free to contact me to discuss the best approach for your situation.
