Fees and Hours
I cap my non-travel-related days at a maximum of $4,500 per (10-hour) day. Additional hourly fees will prevail if the Mediation/Arbitration runs past this time. Local travel time (within fifty miles of my office) is not charged. Travel time outside the local area is charged at $150 per hour, plus expenses, up to a maximum of four (4) hours per day. Travel time over four (4) hours per day is billed at a flat rate $ of $1,000 per day. Expenses are always passed through at 100%, but without any additive. Domestic travel is by private auto (prevailing mileage rates apply) or enhanced economy-class airfare. International travel is charged at Business-Class rates. All other expenses are charged at 100% of the charges incurred.
Cancellations at or less than fifteen (15) days in advance are charged at the full rate for the time booked, plus expenses. Cancellations at less than thirty (30) days but more than fifteen (15) days in advance are charged at 50% of the time booked, plus expenses. If the time is re-booked at the time of cancellation, I will credit 50% of the cancellation fee to the new booking.
Cancellation at least thirty-one (31) days in advance is free of charge, but it requires payment of expenses incurred.
A $5,000 deposit is requested at the time of acceptance of appointment as Arbitrator/Mediator. Additional Deposits will be required during the pendency of the case, and all deposits must be paid in full at least ten (10) days before commencement of the Arbitration Final Hearing/Mediation. Deposits will be credited to expenses first, then fees, for interim billing, and upon final billing.
